We are evaluating the effects of implementing the sustainable harvest rate recommendation for bobwhite populations in South Texas ~20%~  and comparing bobwhite trends between hunted and nonhunted study areas.

We are analyzing the spatial and temporal aspects of hunting variables associated with South Texas quail hunts.  These variables can be used to strategically plan hunts across properties and hunting seasons to meet desired harvest prescriptions.

We are refining our estimates of crippling loss to include those undetected by hunters in the field and provide a probability of mortality for each covey member (i.e., individual bobwhite) during and after a hunter-covey interaction.  

About Me







 







The vision for my research is to investigate fundamental principles and scientific questions in quail management, addressing those questions on working landscapes at large spatial and temporal scales. 














My passion for conservation and the outdoors was instilled in me when I was young.  This began while hunting and training bird dogs with my father. I now have the privilege of sharing these experiences with my own sons.















  


I aim to produce transferable research for students, scientists, managers, and conscientious landowners.
